This blog is where I will talk about why and where I run, about my life as a competitive athlete despite my advancing years!

"Parliament Hill and The National Cross Country Championships"
Once again "The National" went south to its spiritual home of London's Parliament Hill Fields. As always the mud was horrendous and it felt a lot longer than seven miles but I cam home a long way from being last in 71.02 (1866th out of over 2000 starters)
Week 8. Weekly mileage 30. Annual mileage 196. Sessions 36. Races 7.

"Wythenshawe Park"
The Manchester XC fixture at Wythenshawe Park saw an unusually dry end to the league season. On the boring but fast course, including the usually treacherous wood, I was happy with a 43.17 time for the five and a half miles. One more week left to the English National Championships at Parliament Hill!
Week 7. Weekly mileage 25. Annual mileage 166. Sessions 32. Races 6.

"Croker Hill"
Sometimes it is good to take a road or path and see where it ends up. Following this principle as part of my weekly Jantastic ten miler I ended up climbing high above Sutton Common on Croker Hill as the light began to fade. It was certainly an eery place to be with the telecomms beacon dominating the summit.

"Forest Snow"
The biggest mileage week of the year to date started in freezing fog in Macclesfield Forest but ended in glorious sunshine on the top of Shutlingsloe, definitely one to remember.
Week 6. weekly mileage 29. Annual mileage 141. Sessions 28. Races 5.

"Alsager 5"
Although I have fallen out of love with road racing i still like to do this early season sharpener. Freezing and windy conditions didn't help but it wasn't my slowest ever five miles at 36.42 (7.20 miling) as I took fourty seconds off my 2014 time!
Week 5. Weekly mileage 24. Annual mileage 112. Sessions 23. Races 5.
